The Quran English Meanings-Saheeh International
The Quran English Meanings-Saheeh International
Translated by Amatullah Bantley, Aminah Assami, Mary Kennedy
The Quran: English Meanings by Saheeh International stands as a landmark publication in the field of modern English Quranic translations. Spearheaded by three American Muslim women residing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the project was undertaken to produce an authentic, easy-to-read English rendering that accurately conveys the divine message without relying on archaic 19th-century English or overly complex literary phrasing. The primary strength of the Saheeh International translation lies in its combination of linguistic simplicity and theological precision. The translators meticulously cross-referenced classical Arabic lexicons, early exegeses (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir al-Tabari), and traditional scholarship to ensure every verse accurately reflects the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). Brief explanatory footnotes are integrated throughout the text to clarify complex metaphors, historical contexts (Asbab al-Nuzul), and specific linguistic nuances without interrupting the natural flow of reading. Because of its clarity and reliability, it serves as the standard English translation across major global Islamic digital platforms, Quran applications, and distribution centers worldwide.
